Canucks: Thatcher Demko leaves Leafs game with apparent injury

Article content

The netminder left the game at Rogers Arena Saturday vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs midway through the first period. Most people in the building missed it happening as the switch for Kevin Lankinen took place during a TV timeout.

A review of the previous couple minutes before Demko left the game didn’t suggest anything out of the ordinary: he didn’t look awkward in making any saves, didn’t stumble playing the puck, nor did he deal with any collisions.

Kevin Lankinen took his place in goal.

The Sportsnet broadcast showed Demko walking back to the Canucks’ room.

The Canucks have yet to provide an update.

Demko was injured to start the season as he rehabilitated from an injured popliteus muscle in his left knee.

More to come …
